New masters programmes launched

In March 2021, new online masters degrees were launched, with support and funding from the DDI programme.

The MSc Data Science for Health and Social Care and MSc Epidemiology were launched in March 2021 with support and funding from the Data Driven Innovation (DDI) programme. All degrees are part-time, online and are taught over three years. Students can study at Certificate, Diploma or Masters level. Alternatively, students can also study stand-alone courses as postgraduate professional development.

Applications are now open and the programme teams are looking forward to welcoming the first cohort of students to this vibrant, data-driven community in September 2021.

The programmes are the first key deliverables of the Data-Driven Innovation Health and Social Care Talent programme, led by the Usher Institute. The aim of the programme is to create a vibrant learning environment that enables students and health and social care professionals realise the value of data to benefit the health and wellbeing of citizens.

MSc Epidemiology

Epidemiology is the foundational discipline for understanding and improving population health. Its methods underpin medical research, investigates the causes of disease, and evaluates intervention to prevent or control disease. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of this scientific discipline and the key role played by epidemiologists. This postgraduate programme aims to equip you with key foundational knowledge and a portfolio of statistical and data science skills. You will gain an understanding of the fundamental principles and practice of epidemiology through a comprehensive curriculum, whilst tailoring your learning experience through optional courses.
