We are a team of experts in clinical trials, psychiatry, metabolic medicine, nutrition and lived experience of bipolar. We study how treatments affect the body and the brain. We also look at how treatments are used in healthcare settings, and whether they are cost-effective.
ENERGISE-BD is led by Professors Rebecca Reynolds and Daniel Smith in Edinburgh, and Professors Steven Marwaha and Matthew Broome in Birmingham. NHS Lothian and the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust are key partners helping to run the study. The Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit provides expertise in designing, running, and managing trials, and in analysing trial results.
