Application process

Candidates must apply via the University's online application system.  Online applications must be accompanied by a CV and supporting statement (max 500 words).  In the interest of fairness, other documentation/submissions will not be considered by the recruiting panel.

Vacancies are advertised each autumn on the University's jobs page and interviews are typically held in December.

Successful candidates will typically take up their post in August of the following year.

What to expect at interview

Interviews are held in-person at the University's BioQuarter Campus.

An interview normally takes approximately 25 minutes, including:

(1) a two-minute oral presentation (without slides) from you to address the question “What do you bring to the post, and what do you need now?”; and

(2) questions from the interviewing panel, covering topics such as your research experience and your commitment to a clinical academic career.

The interview panel will comprise members or delegates of the ECAT leadership team and an external panel member. A representative from NHS Education for Scotland (NES) will also join for Medical, Surgical & Primary Care interviews.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process, and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may need to enable you to attend the interview. Please just get in touch.
