Academic excellence within ECAT is grounded in the University of Edinburgh’s internationally recognised research environment spanning medicine, veterinary science, informatics, engineering, biomedical and social sciences.  ECAT fellows are embedded in world-leading institutes with access to cutting-edge infrastructure, large-scale data resources and a diverse supervisory pool of internationally competitive investigators. This environment supports ambitious, curiosity-driven discovery research, building upon established strengths in genetics, cell biology, in vivo model systems, human disease and health data science while enabling novel, interdisciplinary approaches to fundamental biological, technological and social mechanisms underpinning health and disease.  ECAT is a responsive and reflective programme that fosters academic excellence in a vibrant, dynamic and sustainable culture of discovery research.
