An introduction to our work at the Clinical Skills Centre. Image The Clinical Teaching Team at Edinburgh Medical School is dedicated to cultivating future healthcare professionals who are not only clinically proficient but also compassionate and respectful towards all individuals, regardless of their background. Our curriculum is designed to progressively equip students with the necessary practical skills, clinical communication techniques, and life-saving interventions essential for a successful career in medicine. Throughout your six-year undergraduate journey, our approach emphasises hands-on learning in small group settings, providing a supportive environment conducive to active participation and collaboration. Working closely with clinical staff from NHS Lothian, we ensure that our sessions are interactive, engaging, and responsive to the evolving needs of our students. In addition to in-person instruction, we utilise the Learn virtual learning platform to provide supplementary materials and resources, enhancing the learning experience and facilitating reinforcement of key concepts covered during practical sessions. We strongly encourage students to actively engage in practicing and refining their skills, whether within the Clinical Skills Centre or in real clinical settings. Our team is committed to offering guidance and support to help students consolidate their learning and cultivate confidence in their abilities. By fostering a culture of lifelong learning and hands-on practice, our goal is to empower our students to thrive as competent, empathetic, and resilient healthcare professionals, prepared to tackle the challenges of their medical careers with skill and compassion.
