Facilities

The Clinical Skills Centre at Edinburgh Medical School is a welcoming, supportive and flexible learning environment where students and healthcare professionals can develop their skills, build confidence and learn through hands-on experience.

Designed to support a wide range of educational activities, the centre provides a safe and inspiring space for learning, practice and discovery. While the centre is primarily home to our undergraduate medical students, we are also delighted to welcome colleagues from across the healthcare professions throughout the year for a variety of multi-professional courses and learning opportunities.

Our purpose-built facilities offer an immersive and engaging environment in which learners can practise clinical skills, work together as part of a team and gain valuable experience in realistic simulated settings.

Our facilities include:

• A four-bedded simulated ward equipped with SMOTS™ camera technology, providing opportunities for observation, reflection and feedback
• A five-bedded simulated ward featuring SMOTS™ camera technology and a SMART board to support interactive teaching and learning
• Four mid-fidelity manikins with clinical monitoring equipment, allowing learners to develop and practise essential clinical skills
• A dedicated simulation room featuring SimMan® and SMOTS™ technology, creating realistic and immersive learning experiences
• Harvey® — our cardiopulmonary patient simulator, offering learners the opportunity to explore and develop their understanding of cardiovascular assessment
• Comfortable and welcoming teaching rooms, ideal for group learning, discussion, skills development and collaborative practice

Whether you are taking your first steps in developing clinical skills, refining existing knowledge or learning alongside colleagues from different professional backgrounds, the Clinical Skills Centre provides a supportive space in which to learn, practise and grow.
