The Edinburgh Association of Mass Spectrometrists (TEAMS)

Six mass spectrometry facilities across four campuses (BioQuarter, Easter Bush, Western General Hospital and King's Buildings) in the Colleges of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) and Science and Engineering (CSE) of the University of Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Association of Mass Spectrometrists (TEAMS) was founded in 2018 and we offer different areas of expertise and instrumentation, covering a wide range of separation and mass spectrometry techniques including metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, Imaging and Quantitative mass spectrometry. We complement each other  in terms of technology, software and expertise.

If you think mass spectrometry will help in your research, please get in touch. TEAMS aims to put you in touch with the right facility and the right people to start your mass spectrometry journey!

If you want to know which facility is best for you, send a query/abstract to:  mass-spec@ed.ac.uk

The CRF MS Core is situated  in the Queen's Medical Research Institute and provides analytical expertise in the field of small molecule quantitation, focused on targeted quantitation and Mass Spectrometry Imaging, with support available from experimental design, sample preparation through to data analysis.

Bruker3

A range of mass spectrometry services and analytical chromatography methods to characterise the proteome and small molecules in living systems.

IGC proteomics

IGC Mass Spectrometry is a facility for measuring molecules from biological and clinical samples. We enable researchers to study changes in the amounts of proteins, lipids, metabolites and other molecules in cells and tissues, as well as tracing atoms through metabolic pathways, examining protein-protein interactions, and exploring signalling networks.  The team works collaboratively to ensure an understanding of the biological question, and the experimental set-up upstream of mass-spec analysis, in order to select the best methodologies at the outset. We care most about contributing to scientific understanding and strive to provide the greatest impact for our collaborators.

Zenotof

In our Proteomics Facility we use a wide range of techniques to address important biological questions. We are equipped with four state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, which are employed to accurately identify, quantify, provide structural information and demonstrate interactions of proteins even in the most complex biological samples. We are currently moving into large scale high throughput proteomic analyses.

We provide in-person training to the researchers on proteomic applications (experimental design, sample preparation and data analysis) and we offer an annual proteomics course on applications, experimental approaches and data interpretation.
