The Masters in Clinical Education is an online, taught postgraduate programme, developed by the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and NHS Education for Scotland – South East Region. The Postgraduate Certificate can be completed in 1 year part-time, the Postgraduate Diploma in 2 years part-time and the MSc in 3 years part-time. The programme is very flexible and you may even opt to take time out if work or family life impact too much on study time. There may also be some flexibility in the length of the programme of study, so please contact us if you would like to discuss this further. During term time, you should be prepared to spend an average of 15-20 hours per week engaged in study, with study time intensifying prior to submission of your assignments.If you have undertaken previous study at postgraduate level in a related subject, eg Medical Education, Health Professions Education etc, you may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), if your qualification is less than 5 years old and there is comparability between the courses studied and our courses. Completion of the Postgraduate Certificate, enables you to apply for Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) - now Advance HE. You can also apply for membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME).The programme has been divided into a sequence of inter-related components, or courses, each of which is 10 weeks in duration. The academic year runs from September to May in Years 1 and 2, and September to August in Year 3. Course material is delivered online via our dedicated website and we deliver online synchronous tutorials. Students use self-directed learning, peer-discussion boards, tutorials, peer presentations and other similar e-learning activities to engage with the course materials.The programme has one intake per year, in September.
