Fatigued from a lifetime of wrestling crocodiles and spiders in my native Australia, as well as the horrible sunny weather, I moved with my family to Edinburgh at the end of 2014 to take up the post of Clinical Simulation Programme Manager within the Medical Education Directorate at NHS Lothian.

On an average day, this means that I have the privilege of leading and managing five simulation centres across Lothian as well as overseeing the various simulation-based education programmes across the Health Board, along with a team of specialist technicians, senior clinicians, and expert educationalists.

Since commencing in the position, I have also been fortunate enough to take on the inaugural post as Senior Educator for Simulation in the East of Scotland with the NHS Scotland Academy as well as becoming an Educational Coordinator for the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors (SCSCHF).

I have a nursing background, specialising clinically in acute and emergency nursing before moving into fulltime clinical education in 2010. I am now delighted to be frequently invited to work with undergraduate and postgraduate clinicians across the interdisciplinary team in Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe – and I love it.
