We are pleased to announce the teaching award nominations in the following categories: Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award This award recognises the dedication and attributes of people who teach undergraduate Edinburgh medical students. For this category we invite nominations from medical students, MBChB staff or clinical colleagues who wish to see someone acknowledged for their contribution to medical education. Nominees can be from any background and of any grade within their discipline. They may have a specific role (such as Undergraduate Supervisor, Clinical Tutor Associate, Professional Mentor or Clinical Teaching Fellow) or they may have supported students in clinical placements, through study or exam preparation, pastoral support or any other way that has supported or influenced your undergraduate experience. Postgraduate Teacher of the Year Award This award recognises the dedication and attributes of people who support the development and education of doctors in training. For this category we invite nominations from doctors in training or from colleagues of those who deserve to be recognised/awarded. Nominees could have a specific role such as Training Programme Director, Clinical Supervisor, Educational Supervisor or may be someone who has been influential in the teaching, training, support and development of doctors in Southeast Deanery of Scotland or University of Edinburgh even if they don’t have a specific “named” role. The Alistair Dewar Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching This award, named in memory of a respected and missed clinical educator Dr Al Dewar, is open to anyone to nominate an individual or team within Edinburgh Medical School or the Southeast Deanery of Scotland who has demonstrated dedication in the field of medical education beyond the realms of what would normally be expected. The awards will be presented at the Clinical Educator Programme Annual Symposium in the morning of 9 November 2023. This will be an in-person event, to be held in Chancellor’s Building, Little France, Edinburgh. The theme this year will be “Sharing Good Practice in Clinical Education”.
