Who is eligible to participate?

You are eligible to participate if one or more of the following applies to you:

  • You teach University of Edinburgh Medical School students in any capacity, (you may be medical, nursing, allied health professional, clinical, research, labs etc)
  • You work in one of the NHS territorial or special health boards that take Edinburgh Medical School students, (Lothian, Fife, Borders, Ayrshire & Arran, Dumfries & Galloway, Forth Valley, Lanarkshire, State Hospital, NSS/BTS, Highland, Western Isles)
  • You teach resident doctors within the South-East Scotland Deanery

How do I register on the programme?

If you are eligible for the programme, there is a single process for registering and signing up for CEP courses.  Click this link.

When do I get a certificate of completion?

  • On completion of each CEP course, you will be issued with a certificate of completion for that course.  This will state which FA has been evidenced. 
  • When you have completed all six CEP courses and had a teaching observation and feedback (TOF) session, you will be issued with a certificate of programme completion: this is evidence of having achieved GMC FAs 1-7. 
  • Certificates are valid for 5 years from their date of issue. 
  • In order to keep your certification up-to-date, you must apply before the 5 year expiry date. Click this link to revalidate

What can I do after I have completed the full programme?

If you are interested in developing further as an educator, you may undertake further study via a course entitled Clinical Education in Practice
