Transfers

Due to high competition for places, transfers are difficult.

Clinical transfers

Students from the University of St Andrews may apply via the St Andrews/Scotland matching scheme (but not beyond that scheme).

Students from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford who have completed the appropriate parts of the Medical degree, can apply for entry to Year 4 for the limited number of places that may be available.

It is also important to note that year 4 usually commences in August. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information.  Applicants will be expected to attend an interview which is known as an Assessment Day should there be potential for any available places for Year 4 entry. Details on our Assessment Days can be foundon our webpage linked to below and further more detailed information is made available to those selected to attend prior to the day itself.

Transfers due to extenuating circumstances

We will consider transfer requests from those with extenuating circumstances wishing to apply whilst studying medicine elsewhere but these opportunities are extremely rare due to the lack of places available.

In these cases, full details of the circumstances must be provided to the Undergraduate Admissions Team in writing (via email or post) along with an official transcript and letter of support from the Dean/Senior member of staff from your current institution where undertaking your medicine studies.  Once all of this information has been considered if appropriate you may be invited to attend an interview before a final decision is made.

Internal transfers

We are not able to consider internal transfer applications to our medicine programme.
