Widening participation

Edinburgh Medical School wants to attract a wide range of applicants from different social, cultural and educational backgrounds.

We work with schools where relatively few students go on to higher education and with students  who will be the first generation of their families to go to university.

If you think this is relevant to you and are interested in studying medicine, there are two projects which may be able to help you.

Lothians Equal Access Programme for Schools (LEAPS)

LEAPS is a local outreach programme raising awareness of opportunities in higher education and aims to increase the number of students going to college or university.

Reach

Reach Edinburgh is a project for eligible secondary state school students in S4-S6 in the south east of Scotland who are interested in studying law, medicine or veterinary medicine at university

The team can support eligible students through all stages of the pre-application and application process for medicine.
