It continues to be seen as a cancer caused by alcoholism and a high risk lifestyle. Perhaps for this reason, research into these highly aggressive tumours has lagged behind the advances made in breast and bowel cancer. With the rise in diabetes and fatty liver, liver cancer is set to become one of the UK's biggest killers in the coming decades.
