Online training to improve scientific rigour in animal research

The University has launched a new online course for all staff and students who work with laboratory animals to help them increase the rigour of their research.

Edinburgh University Research Optimisation Course (EUROC) is recommended for those at the start of their research career, and also as a refresher for those who have being conducting research using animals for some time. Course content focusses on the importance of experimental design, conduct and reporting of research using animals.

The course was developed by the CAMARADES group in collaboration with Bioresearch and Veterinary Services and the University’s Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body. To access the free course, login to Learn and click on 'self-enrol' in top right of the screen. Click 'browse course catalog' on the right hand side and search for Edinburgh University Research Optimisation Course.

We encourage everyone who completes the course to download the certificate of completion for their records and to provide us with their feedback (via Learn) to allow us to improve and refine the course.
