Public Engagement with research describes the many ways we can share College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) research with the public and listen in response. It is a two-way process that enables change and has mutual benefit. High-quality engagement can enhance the impact of research.

Get started with public engagement

The Institute of Academic Development (IAD) provide a number of courses to enhance your skills in public engagement. They regularly offer a number of on-campus and online training such as:

  • An introduction to public engagement with research
  • Facilitation skills for public engagement 
  • How to design a public or stakeholder engagement process

Engaging with the community

There are many opportunities to engage with the public within Edinburgh. The cross-University community engagement forum connects you with other University staff and students interested in engaging with the public locally to share best practices with one another and find out how to get involved with community engagement activities.
