How to begin your application as a visiting student.

There are a number of different routes to applying as a visiting student, depending on your status and what part of the College you are interested in visiting.

Please read the following information carefully and familiarise yourself with our College structure to ensure your query reaches the correct person. They will then be able to advise you of the next steps in the application process.

The deanery welcomes students who wish to visit Edinburgh to gain research experience in one of our research laboratories but only where prior agreement has already been given by the host supervisor. Visits are restricted to three months.

The deanery welcomes students who wish to visit Edinburgh to gain research experience in one of our research laboratories but only where prior agreement has already been given by the host supervisor. Visits are restricted to 12 months.

The deanery welcomes students who wish to visit Edinburgh to gain research experience in one of our research laboratories but only where prior agreement has already been given by the host supervisor. Visits are restricted to three months.  Students are not permitted in the Usher Institute.

Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

For students interested in research laboratories: students are only permitted in the Roslin Institute.  

For students interested in animal hospitals:  a limited amount of places are available for undergraduate veterinary medicine students from external universities to see practice in our animal hospitals.  Students are only permitted in animal hospitals if they are enrolling under "Seeing Practice".

Evidence of English language proficiency

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of good written and spoken English skills. The level of English language qualifications that are required depends on your programme.
