The city-wide festival makes a welcome return in April 2023, giving audiences engaging, hands-on science experiences. Edinburgh Science Festival returns from 1 April 2023 and with it, the opportunity to share our science with new audiences. Staff and students from across the College have prepared a busy programme of workshops, talks and experiences to help reveal how science works, how evidence is gathered, what our researchers have learnt, and how science is relevant to everyone's lives. Here's what's on the bill this year: Let's Experiment A team of eight professors are set to try a new inaugural lecture format at the festival with our 'Let's Experiment: The Professors' event, where they'll share one idea or experiment that has shaped their working lives. Let's Experiment: Change and Renewal Let's Experiment: Head and Heart Tam Dalyell prize Dr Sinead Rhodes will receive the Tam Dalyell prize in recognition of her work to include the experience and needs of neurodivergent young people in her research. Tam Dalyell prize lecture Oysters in Edinburgh Guests can taste shellfish as they hear about the potential for oysters to restore ecosystems and provide a sustainable future food source. Oysters in Edinburgh Human and planetary health Links between human and planetary health will feature in another of our partnership events with Dynamic Earth in 'Our Planet, Our Health and Our Future'. Our planet, our health and our future Neurotrail Explore the story of neuroscience in Edinburgh through a self-guided walking tour. Neurotrail Workshops At the National Museum of Scotland, our hands-on workshops for young people will reveal how vaccines work, share an insight into life cycles and give time to explore stands from our colleagues in the College of Science and Engineering.
