CEVA Chris Laurence Vet of the Year 2016 Image Heather Bacon, Veterinary Welfare Education and Outreach Manager in the Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education has won the CEVA Chris Laurence Vet of the Year award, based on her commitment to the continued improvement of animal welfare. Congratulations to Heather on her award. I’m delighted to receive this award – it’s a huge honour, in light of the amazing work being done by vets around the world. The CEVA welfare awards are a fantastic opportunity to showcase the hard work being done by a whole range of people from volunteers to professionals, all over the world. I’m so excited that animal welfare work is being increasingly recognised as important to the work of veterinary professionals. Heather Bacon 2016 Petplan Scientific Achievement Award Image Congratulations also to Richard Mellanby, Head of Small Animal Medicine at the Hospital for Small Animals and Wellcome Trust Intermediate Clinical Fellow who has been named the 2016 recipient of the Petplan Scientific Achievement Award. This award recognises Richard's clinical research achievements and impact in canine medicine. I was hugely honoured to receive the Petplan Scientific Achievement Award. It is a very prestigious award which has historically been awarded to vets who have made a huge contribution to veterinary research. I was very flattered to be added to this very distinguished list of award winners.
