Information for those holding an offer for the BSc in Medical Sciences and the Biomedical related programmes 1. Use UCAS Track to check the conditions (if any) and status of your offer If you have any questions about these conditions, please contact The Undergraduate Admissions Office as soon as possible. If we have made you an unconditional offer this is because you have already satisfied all of the entry requirements for the degree programme therefore we will not require you to obtain further academic qualifications. However, if you are still undertaking Advanced Highers, you may have the option to change your year of entry once you achieve suitable results but this is not guaranteed. If we have made you a conditional offer this is because we require you to meet certain conditions, usually certain grades in your tests or exams. Once you have met these conditions your offer will become unconditional. If you have met the requirements for advanced entry into year 2, we may offer you this but it is not guaranteed. Conditional offers are expressed in terms of letter grades and not UCAS Tariff points. For example, an offer set at two B grades means that two passes at B grade or above are required. A combination of one A grade and one C grade are not regarded as the equivalent of two B grades. Offer conditions are based on the information you provided in the examinations section of the UCAS application and must be met in the current sitting of exams. For information on how to accept your offer via UCAS Track, please see the UCAS website: UCAS - Replying to your offers 2. Upload copies of your educational certificates to the Undergraduate Admissions Office We need verified copies of certificates relating to any qualifications you have already achieved (as entered in your UCAS application). Please upload them to your clearance check through EUCLID, which will appear if you become firm with us. You must provide authorised translations of all certificates that are written in languages other than English. If you require a visa to enter the UK, you may have a specific English Language requirement on your offer. We may accept an alternative to this but this is restricted to requirements of UK Visas and Immigration (formerly the UK Border Agency). You can find some alternatives online below on the UKV&I website but please check with the Admissions Office if you wish to use an alternative (please note that the proficiency level rfor entry to the University is higher than the minimum set by the UKVI required for entering the UK): Further guidance on submitting examination certificates UKV&I English Language alternatives 3. Make sure we are notified of your exam results We receive automatic notification of the following exam results directly from UCAS: SQA Highers and Advanced Highers GCE A Levels Irish Leaving Certificate Welsh Baccalaureate If your qualification is listed above or on the UCAS exam results webpage, you do not need to directly notify us of your exam results. If you are an IB candidate you should ask your school IB Diploma Programme Coordinator to request that the IBO sends your results to UCAS, so that we can receive these automatically. Information for UCAS centres on this process is available in the IBO Handbook of procedures for the Diploma programme. UCAS - automatically notified exam results IBO instructions on the issue of results to UCAS If you hold a conditional offer based on results in any other examination you must upload verified of your certificates via your clearance check or email. You should do this as soon as the results become available, whether you decide to accept our offer either as Firm (i.e. your first choice) or Insurance (i.e. your back-up choice). If you do not meet the terms of your conditional offer, your application will still receive careful consideration. If you feel that any special circumstances, such as illness, have affected your exam performance, we encourage you to follow the special circumstances procedures of the relevant exam board. Your school or college will be able to advise you about this. Please also notify the Undergraduate Admissions Office so that we are aware your results may change. The University of Edinburgh is unable to offer mitigation for special circumstances as this is the responsibility of the examining body. 4.
