Her background covers both veterinary and human healthcare, with a passion for zoonotic infectious diseases and their impact on human and animal welfare. In her current role, Louise goes above and beyond to provide vital support to teachers and students on the online Master of Surgery (ChM) in Urology programme, delivered in partnership between the University and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She also supervises postgraduate research projects across both the medical and veterinary schools, and is proud to be able to share her passion and support students in their academic and research skills development. Prior to joining Edinburgh Medical School, Louise worked in the Vet School as the Programme Coordinator for the MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour. She also lectured for many years in veterinary nursing and animal behaviour and welfare, and is a former Registered Veterinary Nurse, having worked in clinical practice since 1998. She particularly enjoys seeing the similarities and differences in clinical practice between human and veterinary medicine.
