Iqra Ali

Iqra is a dedicated and passionate member of Edinburgh Medical School community, exemplifying the values of leadership, service, and inclusivity. As a former member of the Medical School Board, she advocated strongly for the student voice, ensuring that decisions were shaped by those they affected most. 

Iqra has also played a key role in celebrating the school's 300th anniversary, reflecting the diversity and strength of the community. She is proud to represent ethnic minorities within Edinburgh Medical School, and her work has been recognised through several awards, including the Young Achiever of the Year award at the Scottish Asian and Business Awards in 2023 and a finalist for the Young Muslim of the Year award at the Scottish Muslim Awards in 2024. 

Iqra's commitment to public health outreach is evident through her work with the British Islamic Medical Association, where she has organised conferences, delivered lifesaving skills training, and promoted cancer screening awareness. She also serves as the deputy representative for the British Medical Association, further demonstrating her leadership and dedication to the medical community. Iqra embodies the qualities of a future doctor, being academically capable, socially conscious, and dedicated to making a difference.
