Currently in the fifth year of his medical degree, David is a familiar face on campus, having been at the helm of many clubs and societies. A leader on the APEX 7 student expedition, president of Wilderness Medics, a Medical Students’ Council rep and Medics Tennis committee member, he spends much of his spare time supporting the medical school and its students.

Last year, as co-leader of the APEX 7 expedition, David helped organise a trip to Bolivia, enabling 100 students to conduct medical research at high altitudes and take part in a once in a lifetime experience in the Andes.

Beyond APEX, David’s academic prowess is evident, particularly his research into assisted dying legislation in Scotland. By surveying both doctors and medical students, he has provided fresh insights into one of the most important debates in modern medicine. In 2025, he presented preliminary findings at the Scottish Parliament and has gone on to organise debates that have engaged both professionals and the wider public. His work has helped shape discussion on the issue, placing Edinburgh students at the centre of a national conversation.
