Kelsey grew up in Oxfordshire and came to study in Edinburgh in 2008. She studied as part of Edinburgh Medical School for nine years, completing her undergraduate degree followed by an MRes and PhD.

During her time as a postgraduate student at the University, she made contributions to ovarian research, researching the novel and interesting Oogonial Stem Cells and promoting the science through teaching to undergraduate students.

As a student, Kelsey also worked part time as part of the University’s Residence Life team and found a passion for supporting students. She has now transitioned away from scientific research to support student wellbeing at the University and help both undergraduate and postgraduate students to work through challenges. She actively engages in community development, organising inclusive events, and championing best practices in service.

Kelsey recently volunteered her time to meet with University of Edinburgh Insights Programme students and share her insight about pursuing a career that doesn’t immediately seem to connect to your academic studies. The Insights Programme helps students who have faced barriers to accessing university or come from under-represented groups to develop confidence, skills, and connections for their career journey.

Throughout her time as a student and now a staff member at the University, Kelsey has positively impacted hundreds of students through her proactive approach to student support.
