Margaret Frame is a prominent cancer researcher who has spent her career searching for new ways of treating cancer. 

Her research has focussed on finding molecules which control cancer cell survival, how cancer cells invade body tissues and how they spread, making significant contributions to the field of adhesion signalling and leading to clinical trials of novel cancer therapies. 

Margaret spent her early career at the University of Glasgow and Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, before moving to the University of Edinburgh in 2007. She has held several research leadership positions, including Director of the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. As Dean of Research in the College, she led on recruitment of outstanding talent and development of a college-wide research and innovation strategy. 

Margaret is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and holds numerous other accolades, including an OBE for services to cancer research. Her vision and support has been credited as integral to the Institute of Genetics and Cancer housing one of the most successful academic drug discovery units within the UK. Margaret continues to lead her research team and is currently a trustee of the Institute for Cancer Research (London).
