Steve Bonsor

Steve has provided visionary and energetic leadership in developing the University of Edinburgh’s online MSc in Restorative Dentistry into the innovative, internationally respected programme it is today. His commitment to collaboration – particularly in information science and academic language and literacy – has strengthened students’ research capabilities, resulting in an impressive record of systematic review publications in high-impact journals. He has championed staff development and fostered a cohesive teaching team dedicated to blended learning, supporting a diverse global cohort whose alumni progress to successful clinical and academic careers.

 

Since joining the University of Edinburgh in 2012, initially contributing to the MSc in Primary Dental Care, Steve has played a central role in online course design and delivery. Appointed Programme Director in 2023, he also serves as senior clinical lecturer and locum honorary consultant at the Edinburgh Dental Institute, overseeing postgraduate training.

 

With 27 years in private practice, extensive undergraduate teaching experience, a published textbook, and nearly 40 peer-reviewed papers, Steve is a committed educator, researcher, and contributor to postgraduate dental education across the UK.
