In 1988, Busuttil and his team led the investigations for the Lockerbie Disaster, where a Pan Am airplane exploded over the Scottish village of Lockerbie, leading to 270 fatalities. In 1996 he worked as a forensic medical examiner on the Dunblane Massacre.
