Headshot of Kezia Brown
Kezia is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and senior clinical lecturer, who believes medicine should evolve with the people it serves.

Kezia is passionate about bringing fresh, modern approaches to medical education, whether that’s using innovative teaching methods or finding new ways to make complex topics engaging and memorable. She is contributing to widening access to medicine through her work with the HCP-Med programme, helping students from all backgrounds see a place for themselves in the profession.

As a proud trans woman, she is committed to increasing LGBT visibility in the medical school, including in the taught curriculum, adding representation that she never saw when she was a student and helping to ensure that the next generation of doctors can thrive as their authentic selves. She currently leads the undergraduate medicine module on trans health and is involved with various forms of trans advocacy, including as a trans and non-binary rep for the University Staff Pride Network.

She is someone who consistently goes above and beyond to support students, and has been described as an “incredible mentor” and “a true inspiration”.
