Head shot of Moray

Moray was born in Edinburgh. He took up a deferred place at Edinburgh Medical School after half a year of auxiliary nursing at Chalmers Hospital.

Following graduation, Moray’s training took him to London and New Zealand as well as Inverness, where he met his wife Janet and settled down to life as a locum GP. He worked in Livingston and the Hebrides, before eventually returning to Edinburgh.

Keeping in touch with classmates has been a source of much joy for Moray, and he has been involved with the 1991 FYC Reunion Committee over many years.

Moray’s main outside interest in the last few years has been introducing visitors to Edinburgh as a tour guide. He has created a Medical and Surgical History of Edinburgh tour, which explores fascinating tales of local characters and spaces.

He is collaborating with the Edinburgh Medical School 300 team to enable more students, staff, alumni and members of the public to learn about Edinburgh’s medical and surgical history.
