Liz Grant is a professor and leader in global health and development. Her work focuses on forming equitable partnerships with low- and middle-income countries and advancing health equity through research. She co-directs the Global Compassion Initiative, which integrates compassion science into global development.

Liz has developed educational programmes explicitly designed for students in resource-limited settings, including MSc programs and online courses. She additionally co-directs several postgraduate programs in Family Medicine and Global Health Challenges, linking crucial areas like planetary health and palliative care.

Her role extends into policy, serving on the Scottish Government NHS Global Citizenship Board and chairing the Consortium of Universities for Global Health’s Research Committee. She also advises both governmental and non-governmental organisations on global and planetary health strategies.

Liz worked in Kenya for five years as a community health advisor, setting up the first palliative care programme at a large rural hospital, which led to 20 years of global palliative care research.
