Head shot of Ludmila

Ludmila is a researcher focused on the early identification and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, alongside science communication for the public. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2020, she completed a PhD exploring how Alzheimer’s can be detected earlier, with the aim of supporting prevention and improving long-term brain health. She has continued this work through major research initiatives, including projects within the PREVENT-Dementia programme.

Alongside her academic work, Ludmila has contributed to global research efforts as one of only 25 ambassadors for the Alzheimer’s Association, helping to promote awareness and collaboration in dementia research. She has also been recognised for her ability to communicate complex science clearly, using podcasts and social media to make research accessible to wider audiences.

Her achievements include receiving the Laura Pullen Prize from Alzheimer’s Research UK for the best talk, and being named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for her work in research and communication.

Earlier in her career, she contributed to rapid evidence reviews as part of the UNCOVER group during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting organisations such as Public Health Scotland and the World Health Organization. She now focuses on developing personalised, evidence-based guidance for people at risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
