Basile is a global health leader and bioinformatician, who completed his Master of Public Health at the University of Edinburgh in 2009. Born in Cameroon and now based in the United States, he serves as the Associate Director of Bioinformatics at the Yale Liver Center and Co-Director of the International Medicine Program at Yale School of Medicine. Additionally, he holds the role of Professor of Global Health and Bioethics at EUCLID University.

Basile’s career is marked by his commitment to advancing global health equity. Utilising the knowledge gained from his time at Edinburgh, he has spearheaded projects to address healthcare disparities in Africa, including digital health initiatives and the development of AI-driven diagnostic tools for liver disease. His work not only leverages technology in clinical settings but also emphasises ethical leadership, a value instilled during his studies at Edinburgh.

A mentor to over 200 young African doctors and public health professionals, Basile has played a pivotal role in strengthening the global alumni network, fostering connections that span across continents. His academic contributions include numerous publications in hepatology, digital health, and medical ethics, reflecting his dedication to medical innovation with purpose.

Recognised for his leadership and mentorship, Basile has received several accolades, including the Samuel D. Kushlan, MD, Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Clinical Research at Yale. His efforts to enhance liver care in low- and middle-income countries and his advocacy for using AI in early diagnosis exemplify his impactful work in improving global health systems.
