Headshot of Gareth Clegg

Following graduation from Edinburgh Medical School and early into his career as a junior doctor, Gareth decided that he wanted to practise Emergency Medicine. He worked in the Accident and Emergency department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where the academic culture inspired him to complete a PhD on the pathology of lung repair.

Gareth divides his time between working as a clinician scientist and as part of the consultant team in the Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He currently leads the Resuscitation Research Group within the Usher Institute.

Described by his university peers as one of the friendliest people in the year group, Gareth is also described as a really engaging speaker and excellent colleague.
