Head shot of Hana

Hana is a public health researcher specialising in health informatics and mobile health technologies to improve care in underserved communities. Her work has focused particularly on maternal and child health in Pakistan, where she was inspired early in life by witnessing preventable illness in clinical settings.

Her doctoral research at the University of Edinburgh explored how mobile technology could be used to educate care-givers about pneumonia and nutrition. This work reached more than 60,000 people, providing accessible health information in areas with limited healthcare access.

Hana has led over 35 large-scale research studies and played a key role in Pakistan’s first national psychiatric morbidity survey, which gathered data from over 11,000 households and helped inform national policy on mental health.

She is Chief of Global Health at a research organisation in Pakistan, where she continues to focus on applying research to real-world health challenges. She has also trained more than 250 researchers and contributed to international health discussions.

Hana’s work centres on turning research into action, with a focus on improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations through practical and scalable solutions.
