Ben is a liver transplant surgeon working at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. His specialist work also includes management of gallstones including laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole removal of the gallbladder).

He completed a PhD in regenerative medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 2014 and continues to undertake research to improve patient outcomes.

He also mentors students through research and clinical projects and is a reviewer for several specialist surgical journals.
