From 2004-2007 he was a clinical research fellow in Edinburgh Medical School, graduating with a doctorate of medicine in 2011. In 2014, he was awarded a consultant surgeon post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.Richard’s research interests include cancer cachexia (the wasting syndrome associated with cancer) and surgical sabermetrics. He supervises several PhD and MD students and is involved with the delivery of online university courses through Edinburgh Surgery Online.Richard is proud to have been involved with Edinburgh Medical School for over 30 years throughout all of his medical, scientific and postgraduate training.
