Lewis Hou is a class of 2012 Biomedical Sciences graduate, specialising in neuroscience. 

He is the founder and director of Science Ceilidh - an award-winning educational organisation supporting creativity, culture, STEM, research and health and wellbeing across Scotland. Science Ceilidh’s vision is to support a Scotland where people are more equitably engaged in education, research and cultural participation on their own terms. 
 
Science Ceilidh has had widespread impact, supporting over 25,000 learners in primary and high schools, providing training to 5000+ educators, with 30,000+ community members directly supported. Science Ceilidh and Lewis have won several awards, including the Social Award with Creative Edinburgh (2014), Community Music Organisation of the Year with Hands Up For Trad (2018), amongst many others. Lewis was awarded JCI’s Top Outstanding Young Person for Scotland 2019 for contribution to culture.

Alongside Science Ceilidh, Lewis is involved with a range of initiatives, including coordinating the global Diversci Community of Practice, which supports equitable informal science learning. He was recently appointed an Engage Fellow with the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement, is a fellow of the Young Academy of Scotland, and undertook a UK Creative Community Fellowship with NAS and Derby Museums and is now faculty on the programme. 

He is also on the EDI Advisory Group for Creative Scotland and was awarded the Beetlestone Award for Leadership and Legacy in the Science Engagement field in 2023.
