Janet Skinner

The Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh sees an average of 300 people every day. As a consultant in emergency medicine, Janet demonstrates outstanding service and compassionate care to each and every patient she sees.

Despite working in a very busy and time-pressured environment, Janet goes out of her way to share training experiences, mentor and support colleagues. It is this passion and commitment for medical education and early career development that also shines through in Janet’s role as director of clinical skills at Edinburgh Medical School. She leads a team who develop and deliver clinical skills, resuscitation and simulation teaching to medical students in preparation for medical practice.

A graduate of Edinburgh Medical School herself, Janet is committed to making students feel valued and part of the team within clinical areas, mentoring and supporting early career colleagues and developing the clinical skills and simulation centre at Edinburgh Medical School.
