Ushna Waseem

Ushna is a current medical school. She is from Glasgow and started studying medicine at Edinburgh in 2023. As well as studying medicine, Ushna is also a RAF officer who guides and teaches medical aspects to cadets such as first aid. 

Ushna is of Pakistani heritage and is proud to have helped many fellow students, including students from ethnic minority backgrounds, through the challenges they may face in their studies, including the transition from high school to university.

Ushna recently took part in a surgical filming opportunity aimed at medical students across the world. This involved her speaking her native language, Urdu to narrate surgical knowledge and suturing techniques. Ushna has also contributed to Edinburgh Medical School social media content and is always looking for different ways to get involved and help out. Ushna’s peers can vouch for this and recall her empathy, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference. She is described as uplifting, kind and supportive by her friends and peers.
