Ellen MacRae

Ellen is a research development officer who supports global health work and academic collaboration at Edinburgh Medical School. 

She plays a key role in developing research activities with a focus on equity and access, helping to shape projects that aim to improve health outcomes worldwide.

Before this role, Ellen served as President of the Students’ Association, where she became the first person to be elected for a second term. During this time, she led student representation through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, advocating for students while supporting the wider university community.

Her work is characterised by careful organisation and a focus on creating supportive environments where people can develop their skills. She has contributed to building systems that encourage collaboration and help researchers and students reach their potential. Ellen’s career reflects a commitment to both education and global health. By combining leadership experience with research development, she contributes to strengthening academic work and supporting future generations in the medical school.
