Krisada Ooi

Krisada Ooi Shen Yang is a current medical student at the University of Edinburgh, dedicated to medical education and outreach. 

His notable leadership roles include chairing the Malaysian Medics International Young Medics (MMIYM) and serving as Head of Surgical Skills and Activities for the Malaysian Students’ Surgical Society (MSSS). These positions allowed him to support over 1,000 aspiring medical students and deliver extensive surgical skills training.

Krisada's commitment to social impact is further evidenced by his role as the first fundraising director of the Charisma Movement, through which he raised over £6,000 for educational and environmental projects in Malaysia's under-served communities. His leadership and commitment to service have been recognised internationally with the Harvard Prize Book Award and the IMU PEARL Excellence Award.

At Edinburgh, Krisada continues to champion initiatives that enhance medical education and widen participation. His work, extending across national borders, reflects his deep commitment to empowering the next generation of medical professionals and making a meaningful difference in the community.
