Jackie Price

Jackie is Professor of Molecular Epidemiology within the Usher Institute. She has a strong connection with Edinburgh, having lived in the city her whole life. She graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 1994.

Jackie is a specialist in her field of molecular epidemiology and has made significant contributions to the school community through her research, teaching and development of doctoral students. She was deputy director of the Usher Institute from 2021 to 2024.

Jacqui is known for being an incredibly supportive person, providing guidance and mentorship to numerous PhD students and as a line manager, supporting her colleagues, securing funding for their projects whilst emphasising the importance of work life balance.

As one colleague noted, "one could not wish for a better line manager, nor for a nicer person to be around". Jackie's dedication to helping others, particularly in supporting women to balance their career and family, has made a lasting impact on those around her.
