Suleman is a medical student with a strong interest in research, teaching, and community engagement. As a first-generation university student on the MBChB programme, Suleman has been actively involved in both the University of Edinburgh and the wider community. He has taken part in initiatives that support personal development and widen participation in higher education.

Through the Insights Programme, Suleman engaged with alumni and developed professional skills, including networking. During this experience, he secured a paid internship at Dundee Medical School’s Clinical Research Centre, where he worked on developing an intelligent faecal immunochemical testing algorithm to support decisions about urgent cancer screening. This project aimed to reduce pressure on endoscopy services and minimise unnecessary risks to patients.

Suleman has continued to support the Insights Programme as an ambassador, sharing his experiences with students, alumni, and fundraising networks. He has also contributed to community health by delivering basic life support training at a local mosque, helping improve access to healthcare knowledge. Alongside his studies, he works as a call handler for NHS24 and supports medical school recruitment activities. His work shows a clear commitment to improving healthcare access and supporting others in their development.
