Head shot of Lauren Hunter

Lauren graduated from in the MBChB Class of 2026. Whilst at university, Lauren described herself as a widening access student from the East End of Glasgow who is proud to be part of a community working to break down barriers in education.

Lauren was events lead for the Widening Participation Medics Society, where she helped to organise a variety of social and academic events that supported and celebrated students from underrepresented backgrounds. Through her role she contributed to building a more inclusive environment  among medical students, and created opportunities for others with similar experiences to her own.

Lauren also took part in APEX 7, which gave her the opportunity to learn more about academic research and expedition medicine during the student-led high altitude research expedition to Bolivia.

Lauren was very well thought of by her peers during her time at medical school where she was described as a warm and supportive friend and peer – always there to support others.

“Given the emotional and academic intensity of medical studies, Lauren has made a positive impact on new students, welcoming them into the student community and making them feel that they belong. She reminds her student friends of the kind of doctor they aspire to be – not just clinically skilled, but genuinely caring, warm and human. Her impact on the medical school community has been quietly powerful”.
