Lauren embodies the values of compassion, perseverance and community that define our medical school. As a widening participation student who supports herself financially throughout her degree, Lauren’s journey is already remarkable but it is not just these circumstances that make her stand out. She offers her warmth, strength and generosity to those around her and lifts other up just by her effortlessly approachable personality.

Lauren’s love for people also extends beyond her friendships. Incredibly family focussed, she often speaks about the importance of supporting and being there for her loved ones. That same sense of care is at the heart of all she does whether encouraging stressed out fellow students, staying up late to help a friend or offering a quiet moment of kindness when it was most needed.

Given the emotional and academic intensity of medical studies, Lauren has made a positive impact on new students, welcoming them into the student community and making them feel that they belong. She reminds her student friends of the kind of doctor they aspire to be – not just clinically skilled, but genuinely caring, warm and human. Her impact on the medical school community has been quietly powerful.
