Yinka Ogundipe is a consultant physician in medicine of the elderly at NHS Lothian and an honorary senior clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. Originally a graduate from the University of Ibadan Medical School in Nigeria, Yinka completed his UK higher specialist training in general medicine and geriatric medicine in 2008. 

He has been contributing to medical education at Edinburgh since 2006, particularly in the care of older adults.

Yinka has a long-standing role as a clinical supervisor for MBChB Year 6 placements in the senior medicine module. His extensive involvement includes teaching, curriculum development, student assessments, and support. He notably served as the module organiser for the medicine of the elderly module from 2014 to 2024, and has continued in roles that span across general internal medicine and geriatric modules.

His commitment extends beyond teaching to include participation in the standard setting panel with the UK Medical Schools Council for the GMC’s Medical Licensing Assessment since 2022. Yinka is particularly interested in disability issues, medical ethics and legal and professional responsibilities in medical practice, making significant contributions in these areas within the Edinburgh Medical School.
