Please join us for the formal opening of the Anthea Bond Exhibition Room. This exhibition space, enabled through a generous donation by University of Edinburgh alumna Anthea Bond, has allowed Edinburgh Futures Institute to create a flexible exhibition space within the building which now hosts an annual programme of exhibitions showcasing creative and innovative research and art.

This event will include drinks and a light lunch, and Anthea will be in attendance to welcome guests to the space.

We will also be celebrating Edinburgh Medicine 300 and their current exhibition in the space, Healing Histories. This interactive exhibition shines a light on “unsung heroes” (individuals, communities, and cultures) from Africa and other parts of the Global South whose work has influenced medical and scientific breakthroughs. Through multimedia displays, it will also showcase ongoing decoloniality initiatives across Scottish universities and institutions, including efforts to diversify curricula, knowledge production, and research practices.

Uncover the city mapped by medicine in a new temporary exhibition at Surgeons' Hall Museums – a collaboration between Edinburgh Medical School and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. There are 40 free spaces available on Sunday 4 October between the museum’s opening hours of 10am to 5pm.

For the past 300 years, Edinburgh has been at the heart of public health – its students and alumni have shaped modern medicine.

Today, Edinburgh Medical School trains healthcare professionals and research scientists to respond to the health challenges of our time, and is home to one of the strongest research communities in the world. This outdoor exhibition tells the story of the people who have shaped Edinburgh Medical School’s past and present.

The exhibition has been displayed in various locations as part of the Edinburgh Science Festival. The exhibition will now be available to view at Bristo Square throughout the alumni weekend. Stop by during your visit to read about the people who have shaped Edinburgh Medical School over the 300 years of our history.
