Amrit Ray

Amrit has made leading contributions to the development of several new, groundbreaking medicines in heart health and cancer through roles at the top of several of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.

 

A graduate of Edinburgh Medical School and now based in New York, he is a board chairman and director at a number of innovative healthcare companies.

 

He previously served as the Global President and head of R&D at Pfizer, Inc. and as the Chief Medical Officer of Johnson & Johnson pharmaceuticals where he championed medical innovation, health literacy and fair access to medicines for patients around the globe. 

 

He also contributes to advancing medical ethics through his trustee role at the Hastings Centre for Bioethics. Over the years, he has given his time to help the University of Edinburgh Alumni office to support and promote the University of Edinburgh both in the UK and US.
