Andrew Storey

Andrew is a clinician–educator at Edinburgh Medical School. He is a consultant acute physician working in the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy and an honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. For the past 13 years he has been local module Lead for final year Edinburgh medical students on their rotation to the department of medicine in NHS Fife.

Andrew has been described as a key part of many students’ university experience, known for creating a supportive, well‑organised and engaging placement. He runs regular teaching sessions using a range of methods to suit different learning styles.

Despite a busy schedule combining clinical work and university duties. “He made it feel like he had infinite time for us,” recalls one former student.

Andrew’s commitment to teaching sets a high standard for mentorship and has inspired many graduates to value education in their own careers. In 2018 he was awarded the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Chiron Medal for Excellence in Teaching, and was South East Faculty of Clinical Educators Undergraduate Educator of the Year in 2022. In 2025, he was named Teacher of the Year for the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine by the Edinburgh University Student's Association.
