Robin was an emergency medicine doctor and educator known for his teaching, mentorship, and commitment to patient care.

After graduating from Edinburgh in the 1990s, he went on to work as a consultant in emergency medicine in Perth, Edinburgh, and Auckland. As a senior registrar, he was recognised for his ability to teach clearly and engage medical students, often delivering informal sessions that helped make complex topics easier to understand.

His enthusiasm and approachable manner inspired many students to pursue careers in emergency medicine. Colleagues recall that he “had a knack of being able to explain things in an understandable way”, and that he shaped their development as doctors through his guidance and example. As a consultant, Robin continued to support trainees, offering mentorship and encouraging reflection on clinical decisions to improve care. He was known for striving to provide the highest standard of treatment and for being open in discussing challenges in practice.

He was widely respected by colleagues and students, and his death from cancer in 2010 was deeply felt by those who had worked with him.
